Treated Poorly
Needs to be shared about Swell Apartments and Mack Management...
I started the leasing process with Swell and was prepared to move into my unit a day ago. Upon coming in to take the keys I realized the parking arrangement would be extremely challenging for me because I have a dog walker for my work travel. I was told by the leasing agent Treyvon...not a problem...if this doesn't work for you, you can forfeit your deposit and find something else. I told him I needed to think on it and would get... back to him. So I left (mind you this person has always had a attitude toward me and has never made me feel welcomed at the property). He then proceeds to call me five minutes later and says with a chuckle "well you already signed your lease so if you back out you'd be responsible for the terms of the lease." The fact that he laughed in my face over the matter is insane. I questioned him on this and he said clearly he would need to call me later eluting to my attitude and then hung up on me.
I am aware of my legal obligation when signing a lease, btw.
I immediately proceeded back to the building and met with Max. Max spends a bunch of time trying to control my emotions and explain their position even stating if attorneys need to look at everything we could go down that route. WITH ZERO REGARD TO THE FACT THAT THE PERSON AT THE FRONT DESK BASICALLY JUST TREATED ME LIKE CRAP. Why in the world would I want to live here? Why would they want to force me to live there after that experience? Max offers some minor compensation for the rude inappropriate behavior and railroads into me taking the apartment.
We proceed to do our walk through and it was evident the apartment was never cleaned. You can see marks in the carpet where people have walked, there was soot around the window, glue on the floor, and the bathtub was full of dirt. Definitely not cleaned while Max argued with me about it being cleaned until he finally admitted it had not been cleaned despite me receiving keys that afternoon.
The conversation continues about next steps. At this point, I reached out to Julian who is the VP at Mack Management who also did not return my email about the situation (nor did the distract manager reach out to me). Poor customer service all around.
All powers at be supposedly came together and reiterated the felt no need after a filthy apartment and disrespectful staff to end our business relationship or take much responsibility either.
