DO NOT RENT HERE

DO NOT RENT FROM ABBEY LANE APARTMENTS.
I lived at Abbey Lane for three years, never paid rent late, and took excellent care of my apartment. Despite that, when I moved out, Abbey Lane kept my entire security deposit and charged me additional money for disputed “unpaid rent and utilities” that I had already paid.
They also charged me for a minor chip—less than half an inch—on the stovetop, yet purchased an entire new stove/oven range and billed me for it. I disputed the charge as… disproportionate and inconsistent with my understanding of Washington landlord-tenant requirements.
Even worse, I was charged for a new door lock after my key broke off in the lock three separate times, reportedly due to faulty construction. The final incident happened around 10 p.m., leaving me locked outside my home. The maintenance number I was given didn’t work, and I was later told maintenance wouldn’t have come anyway because being locked out wasn’t considered an emergency. Yet I was still charged for the replacement lock.
I was also charged for other items I believe were ordinary wear and tear, and management provided photos of allegedly damaged blinds that were not damaged when I moved out. I was never given a proper move-out checklist.
Trying to dispute these charges was incredibly frustrating. Kahmia was particularly difficult to communicate with, and I found her communication evasive and unprofessional.
After three years of being a reliable tenant, I expected a fair and transparent move-out process. Instead, I felt like every minor issue was turned into an opportunity to keep my money. I seriously considered taking Abbey Lane to small claims court, but due to my circumstances, I ultimately paid the disputed fees rather than risk collections.
If you rent here, document EVERYTHING. Take photos and videos before moving in and out, save every payment confirmation and email, and document every maintenance issue.
My experience completely changed my opinion of Abbey Lane. Three years of being a responsible tenant deserved better. I would not recommend Abbey Lane Apartments to anyone.

Luxury apartments?

Luxury apartments include a horrible paint job. They need to hire a new painter respectfully. When my mom moved in last year she was too anxious to even mention it.

Find somewhere else to live

These apartments are cheaper than others in the same area of similar size. It is for good reason. The manager is rude and does not take concerns seriously, like doesn't even act like she cares. When you need something fixed you might as well hire your own contractor and pay for it because if you wait for them you'll be waiting a long time. They have this gross apartment smell that i cant explain. It was subtle at first but now me and all my stuff always smell like abbey lane. Maybe its the mold… other reviewers have mentioned. Would make sense why i have had new and unresolved respiratory issues since moving in.

Mold

We got professional environmental testing done on our apartment after multiple nights of my boyfriend waking up in the middle of the night gasping for air. I went to the apartment manager crying and begging for help, to be moved units or something because this was scary. They would not do anything or let us out of our lease. So we had to do it ourselves. We paid $300 for professional testing that determined the entire apartment had a serious mold problem. That wasn't enough for Dobler management… to take us seriously so we then had to pay a lawyer to help get us out of our lease and our money back. This was in October. It's not February and we just now got our money back from them because they dragged their feet for so long even with our attorney. We got our money back for our deposits. But we suffered other damages we did not even ask for-legal fees, environmental testing, medical bills, missed work and storage fees while we did not have a place to live. They do not care about people here. Only money.

Mold

There is a ton of water damage around the windows of this place. Also obvious water damage in the ceiling. Read another review about mold and there is very likely a bad mold problem. Have had multiple neighbors over the past couple of months complain of mold issues.
