Terrible Communication and Professionalism from Management During Application Process
I had a very frustrating experience applying for an apartment at The Flats.
I went through the full application process for over a month, submitted all requested documentation, and was told weeks ago that I was approved and met the income requirements. Based on that, I stopped looking at other apartments.
At what I was told was the final stage, I was suddenly informed that I no longer qualified due to an updated income calculation that included estimated overtime. This was never clearly... addressed earlier in the process, even though it is obviously a critical factor for an income-restricted property.
As a result, I lost a full month of time, spent unnecessary money commuting long distances for work, and now have to restart my housing search from scratch.
I understand that compliance rules exist, but the lack of clear communication and late reversal made this process feel disorganized and unprofessional.
I would strongly recommend that future applicants get explicit confirmation on how income (especially overtime) will be calculated before relying on any approval status.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We understand that the income qualification process can be confusing or discouraging at times, and we appreciate your feedback to improve our communication process moving forward. Because The... Flats adheres to the tax credit program rules, we follow both minimum and maximum income guidelines, along with our standard application screening criteria. Please consider The Flats again in the future if your hours change, as you may then meet eligibility. Unfortunately, there is no work around or exception that we can make for a household calculating over income and we are required to take all types of pay into consideration, including overtime.
