Not recommended for renting

I’ve lived in this apartment as a first time renter. The area is not safe and the conditions of living are even worse. There is a pest infestation that they refuse to acknowledge. It had gotten so bad to the point where I had to call maintenance out multiple times monthly to get rid of rodents. They would come out when they were “available” when sometimes it would take weeks. There was constantly a foul odor emanating from the sewer in the basement that would rise throughout the hallways and was... complained about multiple times by multiple tenants. They would spray to get rid of it temporarily but the odor would soon come back. It was so bad that small black flying bugs appeared and infested the hallway. Whenever you called maintenance to fix anything, they did a poor job and left a mess behind for the tenant to clean up. It seems as if this property was one of the least cared for. The staffing in the leasing office is very unfriendly and every complaint that was given to them (especially about the pests), it seems as if they tried to pass the blame onto the tenant. I had moved from a 1 bedroom to a 2 bedroom in different buildings thinking that it may have just been that specific building, but there were multiple times I walked into the office and overheard that it was all of the buildings that were having this issue. I would not recommend renting at this location due to the living conditions, let alone the staff not being very helpful. If a health inspector were to visit this area, they may condemn the property altogether. The sad part is I, myself, would have called if I hadn’t been considerate of other tenants who might not have anywhere else to go
