Disorganized, Run Down, and Dangerous
Tristan Estates was the management for Comstock with us at the time. We rented an apartment from them (which was run down and had several things that needed fixing on it, but understandable since it is historic). During that time, we constantly had homeless people in the entry (some were drugged up and/or extremely drunk), and Tristan Estates said they were going to put a camera in and another door lock, but never got to it in the two years of living there. I always felt unsafe entering... because I didn't know who was going to be in the entry. When we left the apartment, they charged us for very tiny cleaning fees when it was barely dirty, took 2 weeks to respond, and we still have not gotten our security deposit back (it has been over a month). They also give you the minimum time when they schedule tours. Bulbs were always out in the whole building, so it was half dark inside. We also had several problems with most of our heaters, but maintenance always came really fast. Overall, my star rating is how I feel and I just want to share the experiences I had while living here.

Slumlords
I rented a small apartment near Marquette University and they definitely nickle and dimed me on costs, so the cost of rent was a lot higher than what they originally said. I lived there for one year and in that time I made numerous complaints to maintenance. In January or February my heat stopped working for three days and they took their time fixing it. The washer and dryer needed to be replaced, but when they replaced them the maintenance man failed to connect the washer properly. The stopper... in my bathroom sink broke. There was a rodent of some kind living in the walls of my bathroom. It would make noise all night, but no one would come out to investigate at night, so the creature disrupted my sleep for two weeks before the animal moved out on its own. At one point the empty apartment next to me had what I can only assume was a homeless woman squatting in there. She would smoke in the apartment and have screaming conversations with herself throughout the day. I kept my apartment incredibly clean, but since I had pets I was required to hire a professional cleaner (which they did not notify me about until a few days before the end of my lease). The copy of the lease I had only stated I would have to hire a professional cleaner if there was excessive wear and tear. I did not have the time to hire a professional carpet cleaner in time, so they assured me they would take care of it and it should cost about $60. They ended up charging me about $140 to clean the carpets plus an additional $225 for other assorted cleaning. They do not care about their tenants, so do not expect to have anything fixed in a timely manner and do not expect to get your full security deposit back no matter how much you clean.

Annoyed
I currently live with Tristan Estates. The rent is very high considering they do not fix things. I have a large hole in my bathroom wall because, they knocked it down to fix some plumbing but NEVER fixed it. Its been over a year. I get a email EVERYDAY from them telling me they will be showing my apartment building, they've are constantly showing the building and considering there are only 4 units it makes me extremely uneasy. I do not understand why they must show this build everyday. I think... they should be more considerate of those living here currently and limit it to once a week on a Saturday or something. its soooo frustrating

Affordable Studio on Marquette Campus
The management company is literally two houses down from this apartment, and the staff are always around to help out if anything needs to be taken care of around the complex. The apartment is located 5 minutes from downtown, and is directly inside the Marquette campus area. This apartment is perfect for a student attending Marquette, or for a professional working in downtown Milwaukee who is looking to live efficiently and save some serious dollars. I definitely recommend this studio.
