We’ve moved here sept of 2017. They were kind enough to let us move in the last few days of September rent free. It’s a nice place for a right now place. The traffic noise is hard to put up with. There is no communication between the landlord or anyone in the office. We had to move from one unit to another because someone was smoking the in apt below us. They keep saying that we owe them money from our application fees which isn’t true. I’ve made bank statement copies for them, I keep getting... contacted from different people . Checkmate Plaza is a good place to find lower priced decent apartments in anchorage. It lets lower income families or individuals afford living without assistance. The current manager is wonderful and will do the best she can to help you with any situation that arises. The downside is wait time for maintenance guy to do any work.. The property management company that owns the building are reluctant to put forth the money to fix some of the issues, such as windows that don't shut properly and the... maintenance person , although hired, is never around to receive work orders or do repairs. If you can maintain an apartment yourself and keep the maintenance request need down to bare minimum and need a place that is decently priced and looks nice on the inside. Checkmate is a good living.
