Amenities Not as Represented at Move-In

I chose to lease at The Gabriel Apartments in Madison, Alabama based on the amenities that were presented at the time of signing, including a heated pool, indoor dog park, dog spa, and community grills.
After moving in, I found that the pool advertised as heated is not actually heated, and management has confirmed that it is not capable of being heated. There were also periods where the gas grills were unavailable, and the indoor dog park and dog spa have had ongoing cleanliness concerns.
I...
brought these concerns to management and attempted to resolve the situation directly. While communication was professional, no adjustment was offered to reflect the difference between what was presented and what has been provided.
I am sharing this experience so that future residents can make an informed decision.

The maintenance man is an outstanding employee. However, there are the following problems.

As a veteran, I take accountability and integrity seriously, which is why my experience with The Gabriel has been so unacceptable.

The Gabriel advertises a heated pool, but in my experience the pool has not been heated as advertised. That alone is a serious problem, because amenities like that are part of what residents are being sold when they choose to live here and pay the rent being charged. If...
something is advertised as part of the living experience, then it should actually be provided as advertised.

The problems do not stop there. The indoor dog park has had a strong and unpleasant smell, and the condition of both the indoor dog park and spa has appeared unsanitary. Those are shared amenities that residents and their pets should be able to use without worrying about odor, cleanliness, or whether proper maintenance is being done at all. These are not small details. They directly affect quality of life and reflect how seriously management takes the condition of the property.

What has stood out the most is the lack of accountability and what feels like a complete lack of integrity in the way these issues have been handled. Residents deserve honesty. Residents deserve follow-through. Residents deserve management that takes responsibility instead of allowing these kinds of issues to continue while people keep paying for an experience that is not matching what is being presented.

It is hard not to view this as deeply disappointing when residents are expected to uphold their responsibilities, pay on time, and follow the rules, while management appears unwilling to uphold the same standard when it comes to maintaining advertised amenities and sanitary common spaces. Accountability should go both ways.

I am posting this publicly because people deserve to know what has been going on. Current residents deserve better, future residents deserve the truth, and The Gabriel needs to stop falling short where honesty, upkeep, and responsibility are concerned.

I am really happy I chose the Gabriel to move into when my mobile home burned down. I could not find a better apartment complex for my dogs to have access to so much and be so welcome.
