I’ve had a mixed experience living here. While there are definitely things I like about the apartment and the community, I’ve had some pretty serious concerns with the condition of my unit, particularly when it comes to pests and maintenance.

Over the past few months, I’ve found around 10 scorpions inside my apartment, with 6 of them being within a 3–4 month span. I understand that scorpions are common in Arizona, and I’m not expecting to never see one, but I do feel like the number I’ve found… inside my actual apartment is excessive. What has been especially frustrating is feeling like the leasing office has minimized the issue when I’ve brought it up. Being told, essentially, that scorpions are just part of living in Arizona doesn’t really address the concern when I’m repeatedly finding them inside my home. It has made me uncomfortable and genuinely concerned about how safe my apartment is.

I also found a very large cockroach at one point. There have been other maintenance and cleanliness concerns as well. My cabinets have started warping, and when I used a black light to check the walls, I was surprised by how much buildup and staining was visible.

Unfortunately, I’ve also been disappointed with some of my interactions with the office when bringing these concerns up. At times, I felt like I was being talked to as though I didn’t understand what I was talking about, rather than having my concerns taken seriously. For example, I needed my windows fixed because they were having an issue, and I was essentially told to put a piece of wood underneath them instead of having the issue properly addressed. I didn’t feel like that was an appropriate or professional solution to a maintenance issue.

I understand that no apartment is perfect, and I know some issues, especially pests, can be difficult to completely prevent in Arizona. However, I do feel that these concerns should be taken seriously and addressed more thoroughly. Read More
