Consider another property
I have lived here for nine months. Within three days of moving in, roaches became an ongoing problem. The infestation continued for most of my lease and was not fully addressed until about a month ago, after I issued a five-day notice requesting treatment of the entire building. Pest control is part of the lease agreement, yet I spent roughly twenty weeks dealing with roaches and repeated treatments.
Management also has a pattern of losing unit keys after work orders are submitted. The keys the... tenant has works just fine, but somehow their copies are not working/lost. Communication and accountability from the office have been beyond poor. My experiences with Alicea have been especially disappointing because her customer service has consistently lacked professionalism and basic courtesy.
The property now has a new manager. The manager who was here when I moved in left, and for a period of time there was no onsite manager at all.
One of the units connected to the infestation is currently listed as available. That unit has a strong musty, roach-related odor. I can smell it through the ventilation system in my apartment when I close the windows during dust storms.
Living here has taught me to be much more careful before signing another lease. I will not sign another apartment lease without seeing the assigned unit. I will check behind appliances, inspect cabinets, pay attention to odors from the ventilation system, and look closely for signs of pest activity before signing anything.
Spending a large portion of a nine-month lease fighting a pest infestation changes the way you approach renting. Future tenants should inspect the property carefully, ask direct questions about pest history, and get everything in writing before signing a lease.
