5 Tips for Fall Clean up in Your Rental

5 Tips for Fall Clean up in Your Rental

No matter if you are renting a house or an apartment, there is no stopping the weather! Fall is here, and winter will be peeking its head around the corner soon enough! Many people pull out all the stops for spring cleaning, but I have a list of things to check off your list for fall clean up and help get you prepared for the winter!

Clean the windows

While the weather is still beautiful and you already have your windows open, take this opportunity to give them a little scrub. Soon enough those smudged windows will be sealed tight keeping all your warm air inside, so this is a great opportunity to get them sparkling.

Swap out clothing

Something I like to do is keep out of season clothes and shoes in tubs. This allows for more room in your closet and easy swapping when the time comes to pull out those warmer clothes. So pull out those coats, scarves, and hats and give them a good wash. Take advantage of the cool fresh air while it’s still here, and dry them on your balcony or porch to save on energy costs.

Pull out those Fall/Winter Magazines

Not everything has to be work! This is also a great time of year to grab a blanket and get cozy on your couch. Put inspiring magazines out on your side tables to read through for some great fall and winter décor ideas!

Change out your Décor

Put those magazine articles to work and get out that fall décor that has been tucked away all year. Gather some pine cones or other natural elements on your next walk and work them into your seasonal decorations to help save on your budget! Include some fall colored textiles for your kitchen, cozy flannel pillows for your living room, or pull out your warm flannel blankets to drape on your couch. These are all great ways to usher in this beautiful time of year.

Organize your Pantry

With all the cooking and baking that comes with this wonderful holiday season, it’s time to see what is in that pantry. Pull everything out and get rid of all expired items. If you are looking to get rid of some things, there are tons of places that will take food donations, especially during this season! Consider putting your sugar, flour, and other dry goods into air tight containers. This will preserve the freshness, prevent spills, and allows you to see what you have to work with.
