433 Midvale - Student Housing at UCLA

433 is a good place to live by westwood's standards. It's right by the hill so it's definitely a closer walk to the UCLA campus than many apartments. It's furnished, has AC and is more or less fully renovated. The apartments are also very big so even though a ton of people live in them, it never feels too cramped or crowded. The building is for the most part noise friendly, which is great most of the time, but can be annoying when you need to study or sleep early. The staff is also very friendly… , accommodating and attentive, which is a great plus.

There are some definite cons though. The walls within the apartment are paper thin, so there isn't as much privacy since people can hear everything you're saying. The internet can also get very very slow, and I wouldn't consider it really high speed, even on good days. The apartments aren't that clean when you first move in, and even once cleaned, they get dirty and dusty really fast. I think it's something to do with the ventilation, but you end up having to dust all surfaces nearly every day.
The laundry is expensive and the machines don't work that well so you end up either getting stained clothes from the washer, or having to run 3 dryer cycles for your laundry to dry properly.
The by-the-bed policy is great if your apartment is full, but if it isn't you end up getting paired with really random people, and having roommates moving in and out all year.
The exact unit you get is very important, because some are extremely dark and depressing and get basically no phone service at all.

Since westwood in general is an expensive place to live, I understand why the rent is so high for fully renovated and furnished apartments, but given that there are literally zero amenities (whereas other places have rooftops, balconies, pools, gyms, study lounges, and so on), it doesn't really make sense for this place. The apartment is very clean and modern. Laundry machines on every floor help prevent long wait times. Conveniently located next to UCLA, you won't have to walk farther than you would if you lived on the Hill. Management is very attentive to renter's needs. Would live here next year, but i am graduating

I've lived here for almost 3 years, and I love it! The new management is great and so helpful - Oscar and Eduardo are always quick to help, whether it's a broken pipe, a lost key, or if you need help finding someone to take your lease for the summer!
What's great about living here is the people - I've made so many friends living in this building, and had so many memories. My college experience definitely would not have been the same without Midvale. I'm sad to see it go when I move out!

This is the perfect building for the young and open minded. Newly renovated, roomy and already furnished apartments with helpful management to guide you. With UCLA in your backyard you're likely to meet people from all over the world and you'll have an experience unlike any other building in any other neighborhood.
