“Holding Deposit Taken Without Lease or Follow-Through”
Angeleno has the most unprofessional leasing experience I’ve ever encountered, largely due to their leasing agent, Ricardo.
My partner and I applied over a month ago and were approved the very next day. Ricardo told us we would receive the lease shortly after approval. However, despite following up repeatedly, we never received it.
At the beginning of the process, we called him three separate times to follow up. During the first call, he told us we would receive the lease the following week.... On the second call, he changed the timeline and said we needed to wait until 2–3 weeks before move in. On the third call, he again assured us it would be sent soon. After that, we continued reaching out through text messages to document communication. When we followed up again at the 3-week mark before move in, he told us he would send it that same day and then never did.
He also attempted to have us pay the security deposit before we were even provided with a lease to review, which felt completely inappropriate and raised serious concerns.
After another week of no communication or follow-through, we no longer felt comfortable moving forward. We requested a refund of our $580 holding deposit since the lease agreement was never provided. Instead of addressing the issue, Ricardo dismissed our request and continued to ignore our messages. He then told us the manager would call us to discuss the situation — but that call never happened.
At this point, it genuinely feels like we were asked to pay money without ever being given the opportunity to review or sign a lease.
We hope management takes this seriously and reviews how applications and deposits are being handled, as this experience raises significant concerns about transparency and accountability.
