My husband, an active duty member of the USCG, and I, a behavioral therapist for children with autism and a trainer of ABA therapy, have lived here for two years. This is our first "home". Over the two years we have seen our rent go up $275 dollars a month with the most recent increase being 17%. Meanwhile, our bathtub is peeling, does not hold water and is over 40years old; we have had water leakage in our walls and closets; our pool is constantly green and is often closed with no explanation;... we are required to walk to the opposite side of the complex in order to recycle; there is no air conditioning and it can get to be 100° here in the summer; and we have a large neon green stain on the bathroom counter that the previous tenants left and we were only show upon moving in and has not been fixed by maintinance. We have had many complaints. However, we know that we are fortunate to have a place to live, food to eat, and a bed to sleep in. Many people do not. While we feel the price of our apartment is ridiculous considering all the issues, it is the bay area and we are thankful for what we have. Read More
