If you don’t own a Unit here or appear young, expect to receive snobby attitudes from the front desk “lobby ambassadors”. Not everyone was bad, and some (particularly the security guards) were quite friendly. However, the two that were awful were bad enough that it tainted the entire experience.
Oh, you used Masonite (higher quality) for your move instead of plastic wrap to cover the carpet? Be prepared to have yourself and your movers berated for an hour.
Did you bring a leather cushion into... the elevator without reserving it? In that case, they will directly email your landlord to complain about your “inappropriate moving and behavior”.
Did your 60 year old father walk outside to get a cup of coffee without being escorted? Have a free lecture on your way out of the building.
Don’t expect to be talked to like an equal let alone an employer/tenant if you appear to be under 35.
The list goes on and on, but these were some of the more recent issues.

The Madrone is a beautiful building with incredible amenities, unfortunately the rules for use are so restrictive most of them go unused. They are as silly as nothing other than water in the theater and absolutely no food or drinks in the conference room. What?! And the worst part is the few owners who feel they own every inch of the building and apparently patrol the common spaces to report 'violators' to security and building management. So don't use the bbq grill too long as you may get... scolded, even if there is no one else waiting. (too long is not actually defined in the HOA handbook)
Some of the units are large and spacious with large closets and storage spaces, others not so much. While having a lot of open floor plan living space, they seemed to forget that second bedrooms will be used as well. And closets can be amazing or "wait, did I miss the closets?", it seems to be one or the other and little in between. The units are beautiful, great kitchens and bathrooms, floor to ceiling windows, and most have a standard sized patio, a few much larger. Anything placed on the patios must go through an Architectural Review process.
Location is getting better. Starbucks will be opening Fall 2015 in the downstairs retail space. A few more eateries have started to open in the neighborhood, and who knows the Warriors new stadium just might happen, though the grocery store that was slated for late 2014 and is still empty, we're not so sure about. 10 - 15 minute walk to AT&T Park, CalTrain, Safeway, Walgreens, restaurants and bars along King St. Muni T line and 55 bus stops are just a block away.

Great if you are a Giants fan, lots of traffic during game days though. LOVE the pool and hot tub - never very crowded. The amenities are amazing. The people are nice. Door lady stands up every time you walk out. I sometimes feel like there are too many rules though. Love the size of the apartment and my views. Not right near a grocery store but everything is pretty easily accessible. Parking is shockingly easy, but just don't try to get home at the start of a baseball game!
