Living low in a high end area

I live on the lower end of Thousand Oaks, My apartment is 2 bedroom 1 bath but it is just the right price. It is an older apartment but all of the people are great and there are only 21 units so we are a tight community and we watch out for each other. Our building manager is really nice and tries to find good renters. I have lived in this apartment since 2006, and probably will not move until I move into a house. It may be small and old but it is my home and where I have watched my kids grow... . The extra rent money would help me get into a house though??. Life is hard in California safe = expensive out here.
