Do Not Consider This Place!!!!!!
This place is an absolute failure when it comes to resident safety. There was a recent act of vandalism to my car in the parking lot involving extremely disturbing and outright life-threatening language. What’s worse is that management did absolutely nothing. No follow-up, no concern, no attempt to address the seriousness of the situation. This is supposed to be a gated community with parking permits, yet there are zero cameras in the parking lot—no monitoring, no accountability, nothing.
I... personally reached out to management and raised the very reasonable concern of installing security cameras. Their response? A flat-out refusal. They openly stated they have no plans to improve safety measures in any way. That level of negligence is beyond unacceptable—it’s reckless.
You’re essentially paying to live somewhere that pretends to be secure while ignoring real, documented threats. Management’s indifference sends a clear message: your safety is not their priority. Think very carefully before choosing to live here, because when something serious happens, you’re on your own.

Property Manager at The Retreat at Walnut Creek responded to this review
We understand how upsetting it can be to experience vandalism or threatening behavior, and we do not take these situations lightly. While we strive to provide a comfortable living environment, we cannot guarantee the prevention of criminal activity,... as crime can occur anywhere. Incidents involving vandalism or threats should be reported directly to local law enforcement so they can be properly investigated, and we strongly encourage residents to file a police report in these situations. Our gated access and parking permit systems help manage entry to the community but do not eliminate all risk. Security features, including cameras, are evaluated periodically, though residents should always take personal precautions and involve law enforcement when crimes occur.
We appreciate resident feedback and encourage anyone with concerns to contact our office directly so the matter can be documented appropriately.
