Poorly handled incident

I’m leaving this review based on my experience with Heights at Interlocken and Kairoi Residential and how a maintenance-entry incident was handled.

I understand that mistakes happen. My concern is how this situation was handled and the resolution that was offered.

My maintenance work order specifically stated “No Permission to Enter.” I also verbally instructed maintenance to wait until I arrived to provide access. Management was aware that my child was home alone.

The technician entered… after my child opened the door.

Management initially acknowledged in writing that, although my child may have allegedly allowed the technician inside, that did not negate the instructions on the work order. Management later stated that because they were a listed occupant, my child opening the door constituted permission.

After the incident, management added a “No Permission to Enter” designation to my apartment and key system and stated that future non-emergency access would be coordinated directly with me. They also designated a specific maintenance manager to handle service requests for my apartment whenever possible.

I requested a certain resolution so my family could remain in our home and the situation could be resolved without relocating. The request was reviewed by the Regional Manager and denied.

That leaves me with the choice of remaining in the apartment without the request I've made or voluntarily accepting a lease release and relocating my family.

What I find difficult to understand is why, after an incident involving maintenance entry instructions, the meaningful remedy offered was primarily an option to leave rather than a concession that would allow the resident to remain.

I appreciate that management has implemented additional safeguards for future entry. However, I remain disappointed with how the incident was handled and with the resolution offered especially afterwards when the incident ACTUALLY had to take place.

You shouldn't consider it

Constant ear piercing fire alarms over my 4 years here with spineless legal speak or no contact regarding including many in the middle of the night or early morning. Management has changed like 3 times and it's clear that it's just a race to the bottom. The leasing staff clearly only care about protecting the company and are extremely unhelpful at the best of times and completely unresponsive at the worst. Not only that, the portal/payments have changed multiple times as well and then the… residents end up holding the bag when rent doesn't auto pay or when the portal is down and we can't access anything. The support is also awful. On grounds maintenance is the one saving grace, but the outsourced hotline is hostile and doesn't serve any purpose that a direct line to maintenance would not.

Do not live here, you will regret it.

I have been living here for a little over six months and I love it so far. It’s easy to get a hold of the maintenance team and they respond timely. I feel safe here and I feel the price is comparable to other communities in the area. I also love the fact that it’s close to shopping, eateries, and the highway.

moving from greystar to greystar, heights was so much more than the previous place. friendly, willing to answer questions, fix any problem as soon as possible, gave the best tour without feeling rushed or slowed, answered questions as we were thinking them. kassandra was absolutely amazing, one of the main reasons we picked her is because of her. property is well kept, and the communication is spot on (when repairs start, end, late notice, events, etc) but not overbearing
