Decent starter, but VERY limited
This was going to be a 3 star review based on my lengthy tenure here, which had, admittedly some perks post-COVID, but looking in totality it's hard to give this any more than 2 because it's just...bland. Sure, as a starter apartment for young grads or seniors, the rent controls prevent a hefty raise in prices, front desk concierge people are generally nice, and there being a rooftop plaza of any sort is nice (albeit small), but there are far far more negatives than positives.
Personal... negatives I've experienced: The walls being thin making it very easy to hear anyone coming through them (or music late at night, despite a noise ordinance after 10). Maintenance being hit and miss at times. The lack of AC in April due to the controlled changeover being roughly 3 weeks later (I could've sworn this was far earlier than May 15). The lack of any real continuity at the front desk concierge (other than Kim on weekends, who's been one of the highlights the entire tenure). Laundry prices getting raised with ZERO warning or notice (the laundry room itself is a negative that you get used to). Mail service failing to adhere to multiple return to sender notices. I could go on, but I think you get the picture. The real reason, now that I think about it, that it's limited to 2 is because management HAS to keep this place as is to keep it rent controlled. If you can handle the limited features for the relatively cheap price, this place can be useful, but otherwise stay away from here.
