Ocotillo Apartments - Utilities Included

To give this place an honest review I will say the staff are beyond friendly and always treat everyone courteously.

The negative about this complex though:

Extremely overpriced for the product given. The management does not, whatsoever enforce the no smoking provisions in the lease. The apartment smelled like cigarette and marijuana smoke constantly.

If you live in the back you also have people smoking meth in the units, all day, everyday. In the back you have a large number of units who... party together and the amplified music that some of them play is loud enough to keep one from hearing themselves think.

Maintenance eventually gets done. The maintenance team is beyond thorough once he gets the tasking but getting the tasking takes time. It took me almost two months to get a new refrigerator. I asked for a new one on 5 difference occasions before I was given a new one.

Safety wise, if living in the back you have to step over people passed out on fentanyl in the stairwells. I had to call 911 several times. There's been times when people were ODing in the back and PD/EMS arrived on scene to revive them. In the back neighbors are constantly letting large groups of homeless squat in their apartments and fights happen. Windows get broken. Things get throw. 911 records can back this up.

Theres constantly homeless people squatting in all parts of the back of complex at night. Nothing gets done about it.

Other than a great location I would not recommend this complex whatsover. The area is very dangerous at night time and $1600 for a 1 bedroom apartment is at least $250 per month over the area average.

Lastly, calling the rental office and getting someone other than the maintenance man to answer on his line is almost impossible to do. Most of the time the automated switchboard will not even connect you!

Do not move here ! Its infested with bed bugs. There's no one in the office ever , no one ever responds to calls, emails or service issues. There's quiet a lot of crime going on. The police is always being called . People constantly fight in the parking lots. People have gotten shot and killed as well. This place is always on the news . Even if you are desperate . Do not move here.

I have lived in these apartments since Feb. 2018. In late Feb. 2020, we were acquired by Helpful Housing, which is registered as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization out of Long Beach, CA. The /best/ thing I can say about them is that they accept online payment of rent -- which our last landlord company did as well. They do not answer the phones, respond to emails, or address maintenance requests. They do not communicate maintenance requests with the workers on-site, who are only here to renovate... apartments as they are emptied. The air conditioning in my building has been broken all summer, in 110F+ heat. They also, when my lease came up in Feb. 2021, refused to provide me a copy of my new lease, and asked me to sign what appeared to be the last page of someone else's lease. I still do not have a lease, six months later, and have been paying month-to-month.

Do not rent from here unless you are truly desperate. Lee mas

My lease ended in December. I automatically went month to month. My rent was increased almost $140. The pool has not been usable in a year.
