Onni East Village

The apartment building was awesome and the amenities were top notch. Additionally, the staff was very friendly. Unfortunately, despite being what I consider a model tenant and doing a pretty thorough clean of my unit before moving out (neighbor can attest to cleanliness), OEV took ~2/3 of my security deposit for cleaning fees, despite the on-site maintenance member saying that a basic cleaning and paint job was included in normal (landlord-responsible) turnover procedures. I was extremely... disappointed when I saw the refund, and I am now convinced no apartment building, no matter how good of condition you leave a unit in or how good of a tenant you are, will return a reasonable amount of your security deposit (keep dreaming if you're looking for the full security deposit). I emailed Onni asking for some kind of evidence justifying this ridiculous cleaning charge and never heard back. Lee mas

I moved in a month ago, and my experience has been nothing short of wonderful. The move in process was great- we were given champagne when we picked up the keys and the staff were all so personable. The lobby is incredibly clean as are amenities. While there were a couple minor maintenance issues upon move in (loose towel rack, difficulty locking bathroom door) they were fixed same day by maintenance. The building feels secure, the hottub and pool are lovely to lounge at or swim in, the sauna... and steam room are amazing after a workout and we love the grills and fire pits. The movie room is often open and first come first serve, so we’ve enjoyed a couple evenings down there, as well. We have met multiple residents already who we have hung out with and really enjoyed. Of course, this is downtown Long Beach and a busy complex, so there might be quirks in the neighborhood or noise outside at night with windows open. However, we have heard literally NONE of our neighbors. The walls are so thick and sturdy and the sound proofing is so impressive for a new apartment build. I can’t praise it enough here. Lee mas

Not one to write reviews but decided to, because just today I realized how much I live this place. Used apartments.com and went to see a lot of "comparable" places around in person but the amenities here are top notch, the place is beautiful and every morning everything is fully cleaned and reset like the previous day never happened. Always staffed and everyone from leasing to concierge have been so nice and helpful in my experience. The unit itself, everything is beautiful and top of the line,... the walls are thick, the doors are all solid and every single cabinet and drawer are soft close. Just look at the kitchens! I didnt move here expecting everything to feel so upscale but everything together here, the staff, the building, community have truly made me LOVE where I live and love just being home :) Lee mas

Terrible experience ever since signing the lease. The "resident services" part of leasing office appears chronically understaffed (or simply ignoring residents after they sign the lease?).

During the weeks leading up to our move-in date, we could hardly get anyone to reply to emails asking to confirm simple details and logistics. No-one picked up the phone either despite multiple attempts.

On move-in date, we had to wait for 15-20min before anyone would acknowledge us and give us unit keys,... since the leasing agent that was duty "doesn't deal with move-ins".

We also did not get parking allocation on move-in date, despite clearly signing up for parking in the lease - it ended up taking 5 days to finally get a spot, and even so, first spot we were assigned turned out to belong to a different resident, and had to be corrected.

Best for last.... our AC has hardly worked since moving in, and effectively completely gave up a couple days into the lease. It has now been two weeks since formally logging a maintenance request, power to the ac has been turned off by maintenance, and it has been 80+ deg and close to 80% humidity in the unit. Lee mas

The leasing staff are rude and seems like we are bothering each time we bring up anything. The dog park inside smells like pee. The small fridges break all time and th sliding doors in closet. They promise $80 parking spots but fail to mention they are compact spots and big trucks park in the compact spots blocking traffic. Random fire alarms at like 2am making us all evacuate. Enter for maintenance with short notice. Internet is always down. The elevators were broken for months. Getting your... packages after 6pm. Cars in the lot get broken into. Lee mas
