Difficult experience
I’m sharing my personal experience so future renters can make an informed decision.
During my tenancy at this property, I dealt with an ongoing rodent issue that was extremely stressful. There was a hole in the garage wall that I reported multiple times and that remained unsealed for over two months. During that time, I continued to experience rodent activity, including inside the unit.
From what I believe to be reasonable — based on the condition of the unit, the timeline of repairs, and the... habitability standards outlined under California law — I expected timely action, clear communication, and a living environment that met basic health and safety standards. Unfortunately, that did not align with my experience.
I personally observed rodent waste in areas of the home and on personal items, which caused a lot of concern for my health and well-being. I documented what I saw with photos and videos and shared them with management. I also installed a motion-activated camera in the garage to better understand what was happening, and it confirmed continued rodent activity.
Pest control did come on a scheduled basis, but visits were limited to once per week. In between those visits, I had to purchase and maintain additional traps myself to manage the situation. Over time, I caught a significant number of mice this way.
Communication and response times were slow, and repairs took much longer than I expected. The experience was frustrating and emotionally draining, and I ultimately felt compelled to move out earlier than planned.
I hope this feedback helps management improve response times and pest remediation for future residents.
