Great Location, Quiet Community, Solid MGMT.

We love it here! We were moving from across the country, and the property managers and maintenance team were incredibly helpful with everything from quickly processing our applications to helping us secure a spot for our POD for unloading and moving in. We are so happy we landed here!

(1) BEST COMMUNITY - For the number of units and people living in this community, it is very, very quiet and peaceful. No one is partying or being loud and staying up crazy hours, or coming in and out of the...
parking lots at weird times. This has been a very nice community.

(2) BEST LOCATION - If you like to hike, walk, mountain bike, etc. you can't beat this location. I'm in the canyon every day weather permitting. It's a great place if you have dogs too that enjoy getting outside. The sunsets are killer, and the park is a short walk, and so are the restaurants and shops in the North End. You can also hop on your bike and get downtown in like 10 min.

(3) GREAT MANAGEMENT - From the moment I reached out, the Parklane staff has been incredibly responsive and professional. The one time we had an issue with our garbage disposal, the same day someone was out to fix it.

I've lived in Sacramento, SF, Seattle, Honolulu, Boulder, Bozeman & Missoula, MT, & Black Mountain, NC, and by far, these guys are at the top of my list in terms of property management and location. If you're lucky to snag an apartment here, you won't regret it!

Two Outta Three Ain't Bad

I have rented at Camelsback three different times, and have been a renter from this complex's property company two times beside those three times. Parklane is a very well managed company that has always given renters good value and pretty buttoned up service. I recently returned to Boise and found that, sometimes, as Thomas Wolfe wrote, "you can't go home again."

After beginning my residence, I was informed that the property manager assigned to me (with whom I have a great renting...
relationship) was being taken away and a new person (or persons) assigned to me.

I had some problems, complained about them, and got what I felt were a step down from the service and attentiveness I would normally expect from my accustomed manager. I had to nag and one major issue wasn't addressed to my satisfaction. Then came the end-of-lease rent increase.

After just a 6-month lease, my rent was raised, via an email, with a contract to return.

Based on these things, I decided to go month-to-month and find another place. It's a huge hassle to move after just 6 months, and my past experience with Camelsback led me to believe that I would be able to commit to a move into this complex without the nickel-and-dime treatment I received from what felt like a bait-and-switch reassignment of my manager. I love the location, but my service has taken a downgrade. I also would have gladly signed a longer lease to start out if I hadn't been going on past experience. The rent increase amount wasn't exorbitant, but the lack of personal consideration of someone who's been a 5-time impeccable renter from this company led me to sadly conclude that the good old days of homespun Boise property communities is being replaced by a more impersonal, widget-bot type of management that doesn't seem to fit the brand of this location, which was my reason for moving back there.

To those who are considering the place (and it's a fine location that's different from cookie cutter properties with great hiking trails and wonderful nature right outside your door) I would suggest asking if your property manager will or be reassigned after you sign, and if your rent will be raised immediately after your lease expires. Doesn't hurt to see what kind of answer you get.
