Caution Advised — Not Quite What It Seems
I initially really enjoyed living at Langdon. The apartments themselves are well-built, and the amenities are decent. However, over time, a few issues became hard to ignore—especially when it came to transparency and safety.
One of the biggest concerns is the unexpected fees. While I was told to expect standard utilities like water, wastewater, and gas, there were many additional charges that weren’t clearly communicated upfront. Beyond the base rent and the required amenity fee, I was billed... for things like a 9% admin service fee, trash admin fee, valet trash, common area electricity, a gas admin fee, a city service fee, and more. These added over $225/month to what I was originally quoted. It felt incredibly misleading.
The office staff is responsive at times, but there are recurring safety issues that aren’t taken seriously. The gates are often broken and left open, allowing strangers to wander through the complex. I had a bike stolen directly off my balcony, and even though I shared security footage with management, nothing was done. There were also multiple incidents of suspicious activity captured on my cameras that were ignored. Perhaps most alarming, a resident was held up with a machete in broad daylight in the parking lot.
Ultimately, it doesn’t feel like you’re getting what you pay for. In a competitive rental market, there are likely better-managed options with clearer billing and stronger safety measures. I’m grateful I had the flexibility to move out—others should think carefully before committing.
