My First Apartment Search and Impression of Hawthorne at Crenshaw – Pasadena, TX.


Initial Impression
My initial visit to Hawthorne at Crenshaw in Pasadena was very positive. The property, apartments, and surrounding area all exceeded my expectations.
Follow-up Communication Issues
However, my positive impression quickly soured due to communication difficulties. Despite expressing ongoing interest and multiple visits (at least five) to gather information and inquire about suitable units, I received no follow-up contact (text, call, or email) from the leasing office...

Difficulties Reaching Staff & Missed Appointment
Reaching the leasing office by phone proved challenging as well. On several occasions, I had to physically return to the property for answers.
To add to the communication issues, I even emailed once and received a response of "Oh, you did? I didn't see that." Additionally, I showed up for a scheduled appointment and was met with confusion, as if I hadn't booked one.
This frustration continued when I recently applied online and couldn't decide on a unit. Despite scheduling a confirmed appointment for 12:30 pm, the manager prioritized a meeting upon my arrival.
Unprepared and Unhelpful Staff
Disappointingly, the manager offered no apology for the wait and claimed the leasing agent wouldn't be back for an hour. Despite my numerous visits (they recognized me), they had "nothing new to show" and were unsure if a specific unit I requested was available. They even seemed unsure about the layout of different units. This lack of knowledge and unwillingness to help left me feeling like an unwelcome burden.
Broken Promises: "Live It" Mantra Not Reflected
The entire experience contradicted Hawthorne at Crenshaw's advertised "Live It" mantra, which supposedly emphasizes exceeding expectations, creating unforgettable experiences, and fostering kindness. Unfortunately, none of those values were reflected in my interactions.
Lost Interest and Uncertainty
As a result of these repeated issues, my initial enthusiasm has completely vanished. The constant communication breakdowns and feeling unwelcome make me hesitant to move forward with my application.
This review highlights the significant gap between Hawthorne at Crenshaw's advertised image and the reality of their customer service.

Not so luxury of the apartment where everything gets broken all the times, dirty pool, dog poop everywhere, car breakins

Amazing Place

I have been a resident here for over 5 years and I must say this is an amazing place to live. It's quiet, clean, and the amenities are great! The staff is amazing they are very helpful and kind!

I highly recommend moving here!

Fabulous place and staff!

The staff have been SOOO kind and helpful! This is my first time renting and they have gone above and beyond to help guide me and assist me with my many questions! The apartments themselves are VERY nice for the price and the location is fantastic!

Not a Luxury Apartment

Location is great! Apartments are severely overpriced. Property has an overall odor. Dog poop is left behind often. Management is not nice and maintenance speaks no English. Parking is over run with trucks and the gates are always open. Neighbors leave trash on porches all times of the day and these apartments have roaches. Business center is always down, computers and printers work seldom. Packages are delivered wrong and have been missing off of door steps on several occasions. You can hear... your neighbors through the walls and walking across the floor very loudly. Not recommended to move here.

Dear Valued Resident, Your feedback is very valuable to our team and I here at Hawthorne at Crenshaw. We truly believe that as part of our commitment to offering quality customer. service, we can learn and grow as a community when concerns are... brought to our attention. Some of these items were not mentioned in our recent meeting following your on site transfer, but we are more than happy to address them as well as any other concerns that may arise in your new home. We would like to address each of these recent concerns below. Pet waste concern areas- Please share any locations where we can send our team if you feel there are specific trouble areas and our groundskeeper will take care of this. They do a great job with our grounds pick-up and we apologize if anything was missed. Language Barrier- We do apologize if you have had any issues with language barriers with some of our team, if our Resident Services Supervisor is not there and you have any questions about your apartment home that cannot be explained thoroughly, we are more than happy to request more info on your behalf and are sorry if this has been an inconvenience to you. Pest control- Pest issues are atypical at our community and we have a very short treatment list, if you ever need treatment please reach out as we have the community treated every Friday. Business Center- At times our printer is out of toner and we do apologize if you have come by at a time when this has occurred due to heavy use of the business center. We replace it regularly when brought to our attention of a need for replacement. We are always available if you would like to email us something in advance to be printed as well if we are ever in between orders. With this exception, the business center is always up and running, but if you have any difficulty we are available to assist you in printing your documents. Computer concerns have not been brought to our attention as of this time. Packages- We have a package locker system that will email a code to the resident receiving the package. If you need any assistance or have any errors with the locker system, please reach out to us and we can assist you in questions you may have regarding delivery. We have not heard of reports of packages missing from doorsteps thankfully so we are sorry to hear if this did happen. If you have deliveries sent to your door and would like for us to place it in your home after receiving a deliver notice, we are happy to accommodate you with this in the future. Noise from neighbors- If you every feel you are negatively affected by excessive noise after hours, please call our office and it will direct you to our courtesy line. If this concern arises during office hours and we can come by and hear the noise concern and speak with the neighbors, keep in mind we are open to assisting in whatever manner helps you the most. It is our goal that all residents feel comfortable in their home and have the same opportunity to enjoy their personal space.
