The Alante in Alexandria

The maintenance and office staff is full of liars. Starting the day we moved in there has been communication issues with the staff. From being told “someone will come by 4pm” by the office staff and no one showing up. Then they admitted that they knew the washing machine wasn’t working prior to us moving in but didn’t disclose that information. Now, maintenance staff put in the system that my dishwasher was fixed and they called me to confirm. Neither of which were true. I only found this out... after going to the office 13 days later. I have been more than patient with the office staff and maintenance and I am tired of spending my time off of work chasing behind the staff to get simple fixes and honest communication. Lee mas

As a new resident we’ve been happy enough with the accommodations. The apartment is clean, and functional. I would offer the customer service at the Alante is severely lacking though. In terms of the front office, most of our engagements have been with Vanesa, who has been very helpful. Mrs. Dowell (property manager) is where I’ve taken issue. Specifically, with one of the few payment methods the Alante mandates it’s residents use (no cash or checks permitted). In our case (during our first... month of residency) the system affirmed a successful rent payment, waited until after the payment would incur nearly $300 in late fees (7 days), and only then notified us that payment had been declined because the account could not be found. We contacted the front office to see how we might correct the issue, only to receive an email back notifying us that because the money had not been received we would be charged the $300 late payment. A few choice phrases from the response to my email sending an exception included “am I to understand…” and “I am not inclined….” In under a month, this is not the first issue we’ve had. As such I’d give the Alante two stars largely for the leaderships unwillingness to work with their customers given an unfortunate situation. Having served in the military for over 23 years, lived in multiple rentals, and as a landlord with multiple properties myself, I would argue this is not the best way to do business.

We moved out and got a huge bill for the condition of our apartment after we moved out. We asked for pictures for what they claim we left behind…it’s not ours. But since we don’t have pictures, they won’t remove the fees. It took them 5 days to go take pictures after we moved out and won’t even say what the items were that they removed because we don’t recognize any of it. When we further questioned it, our emails were ignored.

Our AC unit leaked 3 times in less than 2 months before they... finally brought in a contractor to fix it. I told them what was wrong but was told that wasn’t the problem and that it just happens. They claimed the line was just clogged. May have been the case once but certainly not the second or third times, especially in less than 2 months.

If you like rats and roaches, this is the place for you. Rats are all over the parking lots because people can’t dispose of trash properly and management doesn’t seem to care. Even if you keep your apartment clean, be prepared for roaches to come from God only knows where.

Renovated apartments just have updated kitchens and flooring. Still the same crappy insulation and horribly patched walls. Lee mas

We moved out not too long ago and received our final bill of over $500. In reviewing the charges, we’re being charged $120 to remove “trash”. After asking for pictures they are not from our apartment but management is claiming they are. The trash they had to remove (definitely not $120 worth) is NOT ours. They won’t remove the charge though because we didn’t take pictures to prove it. The items they claim we left behind are things I’ve never seen before in my life and can’t even tell what they... are. Our neighbors moved out shortly before us but they are adamant it was our apartment. It also took them 5 days to go in and take the pictures so how do I know it wasn’t someone from their team that put those items there?? Protect yourself and take pictures at move in and move out so you aren’t scammed like we’re being.

Make sure you have your apartment professionally cleaned and carpets have to be professionally cleaned as well. They won’t accept your cleaning as good enough and will charge you $230 to have their contractor do it after you move out. Make sure you prime and paint your walls as well to avoid huge bills at move out as well.

The “newly renovated” apartments really just have lipstick covering the pig. It looks nice but after a thorough look you can see they just cut corners. Laminate flooring laid over uneven si flooring causing them to have to come back and fix when holes appear. Walls are thin so you can hear what your neighbors do. If they’re watching a movie or having a party, better be ready to be a part of it in your own apartment. Walls were just repaired and painted over.

We had roaches in our apartment shortly after we moved in that just appeared. We keep a clean house so must have been an issue in a neighbors apartment. Took two or three visits from pest control to get it under control. The pest control guy claimed the type of roach we saw isn’t common in the area so he didn’t know where it came from.

Be prepared to deal with lots of rats too. Don’t park near the dumpsters or be prepared to pay a boatload to have your car repaired. No one seems to care if their trash actually ends up in the dumpster or not and management doesn’t seem to care either. Better be prepared to hear them in the walls as well in the winter. Lee mas

Very bad management skills dealing with anyone specially Kaillie and Vannessa they are seeking to get the money of application only the money not helping with the application saying confused requests always threaten you to cancel your application and they already did telling their own terms and conditions from their own with no clue of official documents...am new here in the state i send my paystubs my newly ID my 4 bank statement and they rejecting me to get my 50$ fees as they did with ... friends and they are already old on the town ....

The management didn’t deny at all the Rats and mice’s problem be aware of that even of the renovated apartment that i would take ! Lee mas
