The Townes At Jones Run

If you love the following:
-Getting chased by unleashed dogs (including a Great Dane you have told the owner numerous times to leash and the Property at least once)
-Maintenance that never gets fixed even though apparently someone did fix it
-Outdated appliances and layout with THIN walls
-Rude neighbors that make you feel unsafe

Then this is the place for you!

Nice area. Plenty of storage. Had a few minor plumbing issues initially but maintenance was right on it. Aside from that, my only gripe is the squeaky floor upstairs, but that comes with older buildings. Nothing can be done about that. Overall I’m happy

We have been here for a good while because the area is quiet and the rent was good for the square footage. However, this place could use some upgrades! The dish washers are useless. They have painted the bathtubs for some reason that I'm assuming is "maintaining" them, but unfortunately has paint constantly chipping off of them. The blinds to the back patio haven't worked correctly since we moved in either. The gym is also pretty small and usually dirty with a television that doesn't seem to... ever work. Most of the playgrounds also leave much to be desired.

Another thing that definitely could use some attention is the community grounds itself. Any time there is extremely heavy rain one of the parking lots is completely flooded out. Furthermore, ANY time it rains there are several areas of walkway and grass that are under water as well. There is pretty much a little swamp area right in front of my unit and throughout the walkway on the way to my unit that is present about 50 percent of the time. There are also residents here who constantly let their dogs defecate all over the property, which is not a pleasant addition to the swampy sidewalks and grassy areas once it rains and you have to walk through "mystery water" and track whatever you walk through into your home.

The people working in the office seemed great when we moved in but seem ok at best now. They recently mishandled some personal information and didn't seem too concerned by what happened. I will say that the maintenance team has always been great and has always taken care of issues we've had quickly.

Overall, it will work if you need it to but if you are able to spend more it may be worth it in the end.

Staff is very friendly and response is quick to any issue that has arise during our stay.

If you have any respect for yourself just keep looking for another apartment. While these apartments are cheap for the amount of space it is not worth it.

Pests: No matter how clean you keep your apartment your neighbors here are disgusting and roaches will come over from there units. I wound up having to hire someone to spray for roaches to eliminate the problem because Jones Run couldn't take care of it.

Pets: There are lots of pets in the community and no one picks up the waste. Dogs go on... the sidewalks and by some units there are just massive piles of dog waste. There are also stray cats everywhere that walk on your car.

Heating and AC: The heat and air conditioning in these places is the worst that I have ever seen. Plan on buying a fan for the summer and sweating a lot. Plan on buying a space heater to survive the winter. When the maintenance crew comes to fix it when you complain you are going to be told that you have to close all of the vents in the first floor to get heat to come out of the vents upstairs.

Landscaping: If you have children be prepared to have them part the weeds in the playground so that they can find the playground equipment. There are always pine needles all over everything. This fall the landscaping company they have left piles of leaves in all of the parking lots through thanksgiving and even left a pile in the middle of the sidewalk in front of my unit. They take very good care of the office but the rest of the complex is a joke.

Parking: One of the parking lots here floods religiously if there is ever a big rain. They do nothing to fix this and I am surprised no ones car has been ruined yet.

Office Staff: If you are lucky enough to get someone on the phone then plan on getting some attitude if you call with any complaints. Customer service ends once your lease is signed.

Gym: Go ahead and buy yourself a gym membership. The gym here is worth the visit just so that you can have a good laugh. Usually it is filled with kids using it to watch tv.

There are a lot of nicer places that you can live in Newport News. Do not make the same mistake that I made. Lee mas
