Unhealthy Indoor Air
The ongoing use of strong fragrances and high-VOC products in the hallways and common areas has become a concern under the current management. The management allows these scents to be used so heavily in the common areas and the package room that it becomes difficult to breathe and causes reactions. Despite being informed about the health implications, the management continues to allow the use of these products. The American Lung Association states: "Air fresheners and other strongly scented... products can contain volatile organic compounds (VOCs), gases that are emitted into the air from products or processes, and other harmful chemicals. The inhalation of VOCs has negative effects on the respiratory system, and individuals can have different reactions." The ALA also advises: "Request policy changes... to reduce or eliminate strong chemical-based products used during cleaning and maintenance of shared spaces such as cleaning products, air fresheners and aerosols."
