Oak Shores Apartments

If you are looking to rent here, be careful. I initially loved this place after touring, and I applied for an apartment. When you apply for an apartment with this complex, they require you to pay a $300 holding fee upon submitting your application so they can hold the apartment for you. I received an email from one of their leasing specialists the same day saying I was approved. In that email, she stated that we just have to wait for the current resident to move out and then I would be sent the... lease to sign, which I thought was weird but I went along with it. Over a week later, I received another email with my approval letter. In this letter it states, "Please note that a current resident is able to cancel a move-out notice at any time." This was very concerning to me, as it had never been mentioned or discussed with me when I toured the apartment or had been in the information I was given. I reached out to ask about this as it sounded very sketchy, and it's as sketchy as it sounds. When you apply, you are not applying for a specific apartment. When I questioned this, they said there is no guarantee you will get the apartment you applied for and if the current resident were to decide not to move out, that they would try to place me in a similar apartment. This was unacceptable to me, and I did not feel comfortable waiting around to see if I would maybe have an apartment when it was time for me to move. I decided to look elsewhere and forget about moving here since no guarantee could be made. I then asked for my $300 holding fee back as clearly no apartment was being held for me whatsoever, and they refused. The holding fee is nonrefundable according to their policy. This was at least clear when submitting the application. However, since no apartment was actually being held for me, I figured the least they could do was give me my $300 back that was taken for "no guarantee." If you're thinking about moving here, make sure you ask about this. On their website, it lists specific apartments (lists what floor it's on, the apartment number, if it is updated or not, etc.) and addresses and when submitting the application, it makes it seem like you are applying for a specific apartment, but you are not. This property is dealing with a extremely bad case of roaches & the property manager & regional manager will blame you for “bringing them in” & say you brought them in from a grocery store or from someone job! Extremely horrendous living situations & will not let you break your lease until you pay a Hefty termination fee to them. Got roaches crawling out of vents/floorboards/base boards & out ceiling lights! Pleaseeeee avoid at all cost, we were only here 3-4 months until we couldn’t take it... anymore & had to leave because of the heath risk this was posing to me & my family. Lee mas

When i had an issue the maintenance staff ususally handled it with in a day.

Grounds were well kept, nice area, park nearby, some fast-food restaurants within walking distance as well as grocery store and gas station.

would reccomend. Not bad at all. lived here for 6 months during an engineering co-op

This apartment is awesome. Management is friendly and helpful. (They work with you if you need any supplies, repairs, etc.). Bruce is one of the maintenance guys, and they always get people out to units promptly. The management also ensures that residents know about repairs, etc. Service members, senior citizens, and long-term residents get discounts on rent.

I lived in this dump for over 4 years! Never fix anything. Management claims being sorry but never does anything to fix situation!! Never rent here!!
