Stickney is a lively village just 11 miles southwest of Downtown Chicago. Stickney is home to three recreational areas along with a popular dog park. This neighborhood houses Hawthorne Race Course, Chicago's oldest sports venue for horse racing. On the western side of town is Ottawa Trail Woods, a beautiful forest preserve with areas for fishing, hiking, and kayaking. Towards the southern side of the preserve is the Chicago Portage National Historic Site. The site includes a portion of the Salt Creek Trail System, which stretches up through neighboring towns. Stickney is conveniently located near two major highways, Interstate 290 and Interstate 55, making travel to nearby cities seamless.
