Cordova Apartments

The amount of mold in this place is scary to think about and you can’t even enter the building without passing a cloud of cigarette smoke

The manager of this apartment building is not only unethical, but cruel as well. She will threaten to take you to small claims court and keep your security deposit with false claims of damage and abuse of the apartment unit and appliances. She will become confrontational if you try to have a rational conversation with her and it will make you a bit frightened to approach her with more serious issues.

She rents out parking spots to local B&Bs and to tourists during the traditional Night of... Lights holiday season. There is no regard to the commitment of providing guaranteed parking spots for the paying tenants.

Packages are routinely “mysteriously” missing and her only response is for tenants to get (and pay for) a private P.O. Box to prevent the thefts. I really started to wonder where all the packages were going…

The apartments and building itself are dirty and in disrepair. Concern over the health and well-being of all the tenants should be a concern given the build-up of mold in the window air conditioning units. The building maintenance staff never cleans them and they are impossible to thoroughly clean and disinfect on your own given how neglected and dirty they have become.

The front door of the building is often propped open as tenants are moving items in and out. This is a huge security risk that never seems to be addressed.

Stay away!!!! There are high-quality rental units and building managers in St. Augustine. Don’t get mixed up with this woman and her slumlord approach to managing an apartment building.

We have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and have made the city is St. Augustine and Flagler College aware. Hopefully, this will motivate positive changes, but at minimum, will warn others about the horrible situation at the Cordova Apartments building.

This building catches students interests due to its closeness to campus and night life. Don’t be fooled. The owners of this property harassed me and my roommate by not only calling us names, but also calling my father names. Her husband would come into our apartment multiple times, unannounced. As two young females, this concerned us so much that we felt the need to buy security cameras and a door chain. The building is infested with roaches, and the fire Marshall has been called on them... multiple times, due to the many fire hazards. Mind you, this all spiraled after the first week of living there because my roommate and I had asked for a copy of our lease, which upset her tremendously. She scammed my roommate out of money and kept money that was not hers. Also, they will charge you a $400 cleaning fee, and I’m not sure what they use it for because when we moved in there was a chicken bone in the ice maker, mold in all of the air vents, broken appliances, and broken windows.
