Poor living place

Never fix anything you put in a order to get something fixed and never happens. Never enough parking and lots of parties go on when management is away. Like they say cats away mice will play. Tires have been slashed many times and cars broken into not a grste place to live that's why we left last year.

Lessons learned

I'm a renter that's been burned in the past by landlords. So when I moved into this new building, I went through a checklist of things I've learned. While the units are adequately maintained, and my view out the window is of a 9 hole golf course, I've learned that one should "hang out" (for an hour or so) and take a long walk around a place before you rent. Meaning... Take a close look at how well the outside of the building is maintained, as soon after I moved in, there was a leak in the... bedroom roof. It was promptly fixed, but things were damaged. Had I notice this before signing, I might not have taken the room. Had I taken a good look at the roof, before hand, I might have noticed there was wind damage to the covering. Secondly, before you sign a lease, you should go there at 5:00pm on a work day to see how bad traffic is (especially if the building is on a busy avenue)... or how crowded the parking area becomes. Before signing, if possible, ask other tenants how the owner is. See what others have to say on sites like this. Check the Better Business Bureau for complaints. Be sure before you sign. And make sure you discuss how quickly repairs are going to made. Make a list of things to inspect in the unit with the landlord BEFORE YOU SIGN, so you don't get taken for "cleaning or repair" charges when you leave... Make notes and take pictures of the condition of things like the carpet, the cabinets, or anything that's slightly "funky" (stains, water damage to paint), etc, so you don't later get charged for it. Landlords are generally NICE when you move it (but greedy when you move out), so get it in writing... If they won't sign off your check list, the same way you sign off on a lease, then go someplace else. I did all this, before hand, and I'm happy where I'm now living, and feel the landlord is doing his share... just saying.
