Worst rental Experience I've ever had, wish I could give 0 stars
I genuinely do not have a single positive thing to say about my experience with this building or its management.
The list of issues throughout our tenancy was endless. Our apartment flooded twice due to drainage issues. We requested insulation repairs during winter, and maintenance just ripped insulation from the wall and left debris all over our floor. After a plumbing issue, brown water came spewing out of our shower during maintenance work and we were left to clean it ourselves because there… was "no time" to clean it. After replacing a faulty heater, glass shards were left throughout our carpet and we were told we "might want to vacuum."
The elevator was broken on and off for the first several months we lived here, and water shutoffs happened constantly -- often for hours at a time, almost weekly. On top of that, there was brutal construction noise throughout the building for weeks on end.
A couple months in, management also attempted to have tenants re-sign their current leases at significantly higher prices, while offering concessions intended to offset the increase. From our perspective, this appeared designed to inflate the apparent rental value of the units without providing any actual benefit to tenants, super shady.
The worst issue by far was the heater in our roughly 900 sq. ft. apartment. Our electric bill jumped from around $100/month to nearly $600/month after one heater was turned on. We were initially told it was not management's responsibility. Later, the heater was finally inspected, determined to be defective, and replaced. Immediately afterward, our electric bills returned to normal levels, shocker
Management then spent months asking us to submit ComEd bills while they reviewed a credit. After leading us on,they ultimately denied any credit two weeks before move-out and threatened collections if we did not immediately pay in full before we could even speak to someone further about the issue.
They tried to send us to collections with an eviction notice when we simply asked for reasoning why our credit was denied completely .
This place was the worst rental experience I've ever had. Obviously do your own research when making a decision but if you need any first hand examples myself and many of other tenants I spoke with I'm sure can provide you with the true facts of how this place treats people.Review from Apartments.com
