Warning: Roach Infestations at Move In
Summerfield at Morgan Metro deserves zero Stars but I had to pick 1. The property looks nice but it is handled like trash.
I moved-in on Friday — June 13, 2025. My entire move in experience was not only unacceptable but hazardous to my family’s health and safety. Below is a summary of the conditions I encountered within the first 24 hours:
Upon arrival, the entire apartment reeked of bug bombs to the point of being nearly uninhabitable — the smell was overwhelmingly strong, indicating... treatment occurred just hours before. The home had to be aired out, but the smell is still strong and lingering 48 hrs later.
- Greasy residue was found throughout the cabinets — especially under the kitchen sink — suggesting poor cleaning and pest control preparation.
- The home has a full-blown roach infestation (I wish I could add photos and videos here) affecting every area, including: Kitchen (cabinets, under sinks, and even INSIDE my refrigerator), Bathrooms, Laundry room, General living areas.
- I spent the entire first night deep-cleaning a filthy, pest-ridden unit, including vacuuming, scrubbing cabinets, and disinfecting the refrigerator. I had to receive assistance from my partner to assure I could get this done timely.
- I have asthma, and also have a toddler with asthma, who had to be put on a respirator that evening and then removed from the home the next morning while I attempted to chemically treat the infestation myself.
- It’s now clear that roaches have likely entered my personal belongings, raising serious concerns that they may come with me when I move out.
- No hot water was available for most of the day, leaving us unable to shower until nightfall. And also made it hard to properly clean with hot sanitizing water.
- The large front right stove burner also does not work.
- The kitchen and master bathroom sinks drain extremely slowly, causing water buildup.
- The wood under the kitchen sink is collapsing and disintegrating, indicating long-term moisture damage and rot issues, which also happens to attract bugs and roaches.
- On top of these issues, our vehicle was towed despite having registered it. I was being forced to pay to retrieve it which we still have not as we feel this should be covered by apartment management!
