I wish I hadn't moved here
A few things are nice, open green spaces, roomy units, spacious closets, and a pool. The maintenance staff are friendly and work hard. Unfortunately the old buildings, paper thin walls, unhelpful management, and disrespectful neighbors make this place a nightmare.
I mostly work from home, which means I'm stuck listening to every sound from all of my neighbors (even beyond those with shared walls, I kid you not in a decade of apartment living I have NEVER experienced noise like here). Upstairs... neighbors banging on my ceiling at all hours; the dad next door screaming at his children; you can hear every word of conversation in the hallway or adjacent unit (not yelling, normal conversation is completely audible so forget about your privacy!). In the afternoons scores of unsupervised children running, screaming, throwing trash, having food fights, vandalizing buildings and cars. It's almost impossible to get work done.
They charge a non-refundable pet fee and a substantial "pet rent," but this doesn't seem to go towards making the community pet friendly. I frequently have to wrestle old sandwiches and other remnants of the kids' food fights away from my dog when I try to walk her. Most people do not pick up after their dogs so there is poop everywhere (and they have no hose to clean it off your shoes when you inevitably step in it). I have seen many neighbors let their does out UNLEASHED, which is not only dangerous and disrespectful, but illegal in this county. Management has done nothing about these issues despite complaints.
My building has been frequently filled with the strong stench of tobacco cigarette smoke. Management did not even have the courtesy to respond to my complaint.
I'm trapped with 8 months left in my lease and I am counting down the days to when I can escape this apartment that I have come to hate so much. I'd imagine if the management and neighbors were not so awful it might be a nicer place to live but there's no way to control that so if you at all value privacy, quiet, respect for your community, or your own sanity, I'd recommend living somewhere else.
