A comprehensive Review.
I lived there for 2 years. Property management changed once in that time. Upon the change they jacked up prices and I had to fight my to retain a discount. Eventually they came to terms and helped me out. However, this was not without several days of correspondence with the front office. While on the topic of management, you must be your own advocate. I had to ask for my dishwasher to be fixed 3 times before they finally stopped responding with, "We checked it out and it worked for us" after I... had told them it stopped cycling about 5 minutes into the cycle. Eventually, they replaced the unit; the squeaky wheel.......
There are little to no amenities here and they charge you prices that can be found at places with swimming pools, entertainment rooms, better gyms, and more modern systems (door locks, cameras for security, etc.) Do not be fooled by the picture with the pool table.....the pool cues are never accessible. For such high prices I would expect more. The building was put up fast so expect it to degrade just as fast.
The last thing I will bring up is the most recent events which have broken the camels back. Small petty car break-ins are expected at all places you live, to an extent, however, the package rooms, cars, and even apartment units have been broken into while I have lived here. The most recent event was an explosion on the fifth floor. You can google that one. I will not speculate on what it was, but I will say that the FBI, ATF, bomb squad, police, and sheriff all came out twice. You can make your own assumptions off of that. While I understand that sort of thing is hard to predict, the management made little effort to help out those of us who wished to moved out for fear of safety. There was no offer to end our leases early (mine was coming up in about 2 months) and it largely felt like they were trying to brush the whole thing under the rug. To be fair, they hosted a meeting for the apartment that pretty much amounted to nothing other than we will install more cameras.
In summary, if you are dead set on living in Blaine and this is the most convenient location for you, this is not the worst place to live. Take notes on everything when you move in and hope that nothing goes wrong. If you are debating this place and elsewhere, choose the other place. Its not worth the hassle of fighting your way through every conflict. I hope this was not too long and is helpful. Good luck on the apartment shopping!
