Epitome of "try"

Management will respond to you pretty quickly. Repairs, compliants, or other comments will perpetually be in a state of "next week", and repairs unsustainable. A leaking ceiling doesn't need patch up, it needs the source of the leak to be fixed, but it is NY, maybe management doesn't have the funds for a long term fix? So they try to fix it with the patch ups. Four apartment floods later and it was finally deemed necessary for a long-term fix so they addressed the pipes. It's stuff like that.... Management will try their hand at temp fixes before anything else more costly.

That being said, if you're going to stay in this complex for a year, it's livable. More than that and you'll be pulling teeth to get anyone to take you serious enough to repair anything for it to be a safe environment to live in during the extended tenancy.

The bug problems is sorely underrated. With hugely misaligned windows you will find yourself swimming in a sea of flies and maggots, regardless of their "fix" (which was plastic film-again not long term fix to the problem). If you're okay with experiencing PTSD level of stress, constantly cleaning maggots off of your items, or wondering if they're crawling all over you even though you've cleaned everything, then have at it. Smaller bugs like bedbugs can find their way in as well, if you had someone prop an infested matress near your window (which happened to me). I will say they're tons better at addressing bedbug issue since you know, it's the law to. But other than that, you're pretty much on your own.

The area is lovely though. Yes, the complex can get loud and smokey but it's a reflection of the lively neighborhood. There's a balance of everyone minding their own, but a strange sense of vigilance and community that makes the area superficially safe.

LOUD

The apartment is ok. No living room. It's a 2 bedroom. One bedroom larger than the other. There are bug problems. Small bathroom. The neighborhood is way too loud. There's a party and noise every week.
