Rude, unprofessional staff in rental/management office. They enter apartments without notice and for no reason. So, if you value privacy and peace of mind, this place is not for you. Literally, walked in without notice while I was in the shower and another time in bed with the flu. Scared the heck out of me. And, for no reason whatsoever! When they should act they do not; for example: screaming and yelling kids all over the property, riding bikes on sidewalks, right at apartment door. … .Dangerous. And, associated damage to car. All complaints ignored. Ventilation is non-existent --- all of my clothes and upholstered furniture smell like curry and my eyes are constantly irritated by that smell. Pool is totally unregulated. Noisy, overcrowded, too many non-tenants, kids in diapers in the pool, and I mean LEAKING diapers. Certainly not a place to relax. People hanging laundry all over their porches and balconies --- looks like a tenement. Again, complaints are ignored. Thermostats do not work, no matter how many times they try to fix them. Can hear every word spoken in neighboring apartments. Appliances are the cheapest possible and are constantly breaking. I looked at six different apartment complexes in the Schenectady area and I’m glad I chose Van Antwerp Village. The entire staff, from the office personnel to the maintenance personnel, are very friendly, knowledgeable, informative, and helpful. The move in condition of the apartment was very good with the fixtures and the appliances either new or updated. All of my requests or questions were answered promptly and to my satisfaction. Don't be fooled by manicured lawns and shiny buildings. The units are old and noisy: walls are paper thin, and one can hear every moan, talk, and cry from the surrounding units. It's exceptionally noisy if you're on a ground floor - you'll hear it every time tenants on second floor decide to take a stroll. So, if you are a light sleeper like I am, you're pretty much at the mercy of your neighbors - you sleep when they sleep. If they decide to wake up at 4 a.m., be prepared to start your day with… them.

Support staff is extremely unprofessional. I had to call them on multiple occasions for normal repairs such as leaks, furnace malfunction, thermostat malfunction, etc. Each time they left a mess in my apartment, and I've had to spend considerable time cleaning after them.
