Beware

While living here, my car was stolen from their parking lot. Some cameras on site were not functional and didn’t capture the theft. Akron PD did recover my car several days later. I, unfortunately, had to call Akron Police WELL OVER a dozen times living here due to vandalism and other ongoing issues. Management was slow to complete repairs and the property manager was extremely hesitant to complete necessary repairs (think ceiling water damage from neighbors above or huge hornets nest/yellow... jackets in the apartment). Some major things were never addressed at all. I had to call the building owner, directly, to get anything done. The Property Manager became belligerent, unprofessional and argumentative towards me at the end of my time living there (2020). I was let out of my lease early by the building owner. Akron University students lived next to me and would stay awake through all hours of the night blasting music or partying. Sometimes until sunrise. This was common during the work week. They finally get evicted/leave and the next neighbor is a cigarette chain smoker and my apartment smelled like their cigarettes. Walls are thin enough to hear your neighbor snoring or when they use the bathroom, etc. The windows were cheap and didn’t seal well. Appliances were old and energy inefficient. The apartment was very drafty and cold in the winter. Even with “free heat”. Smells (usually pungent) wafted through the vents. There are many other unpleasant things I could say. The proximity to Cuyahoga Falls or Akron is a nice benefit. Some of the other neighbors who live in the building were very nice, as well. The building is a short walk (less than 5min) to trail access for the Gorge Metropark which is a really nice option, too. That said, for just slightly more money per month, there are much nicer options nearby. Having lived at The Diplomat for 5yrs, I would strongly advise you to look elsewhere.
