Hit or Miss

From what I've heard, this development was originally condos, and over time investors bought up units and rented them out as apartments. My landlord owns units in a few different buildings. Depending on your landlord, maintenance may be good or not for the interior of the unit. The condo association still takes care of the outsides: the landscaping, gutters, parking area, mailboxes, etc. Snow removal is spotty -- if the snow has been pretty heavy, they'll make a pass around the parking lot and... clear a narrow path on the sidewalks at least. If it's less than a couple inches, they may or may not do anything. They usually leave a bucket of "snow melt" on each porch, for residents to use if they need it. There is a pool and a small fitness center, but I've never used either one. The pool looked like it wasn't well maintained, but I haven't even looked lately, so maybe it's better since a new management company took over a couple years ago. I did notice that new management has been doing better about power washing the buildings and cleaning gutters, anyway. I wish they'd hire better landscapers, though. In the 8 years I've lived here, we've lost lots of trees (they died from improper care), and the mulched flower beds keep expanding because each year as the mulch gets washed out by rain and so on, they just consider that the "new" area of the flower bed and add more mulch there. If they keep going like that, in a few years, there probably won't even be any grass left.

Despite all that, I love living here — why else would I have stayed for 8 years and counting? My back windows look out on the woods, which are so pretty in the summer. I love seeing deer right outside my windows. I'm on the Sam's Club end of the development, and it's still very quiet there. If the wind is just right and your windows are open, you might hear the cows mooing from the OSU fields on the other side of Home Depot! We did have a rash of car break-ins a couple years ago (they busted out my driver's side window to get one lousy dollar!!!), but as far as I know, it's been safe except for that. Sam's Club, Home Depot, Target, Arby's, Speedway, Joann Fabrics, Subway and other places are a five-minute walk, tops. Pizza Hut, Panera, Barnes and Noble, Chili's, McDonalds, Krispy Cream and other places are in walking distance, too.
