Mayfair Garden Apartments

I know it's odd to have a mom write a review, but people seem to only write reviews to complain. My son lives here. His unit has parking near the door around back. There is inside access to his front door so no standing in the cold to get into his unit. I have spent the night several times over the past couple of years and it is in a very quiet, seemingly safe area. His a/c went out and it was replaced within two days. He had a leak from the upstairs neighbor. It was fixed right after it was... reported. As a property manager, I know how difficult it can be to get things done in a timely manner sometimes. I live in Tulsa so he can't live in a property I manage. I appreciate the fact that my son, as well as the other tenants, is well taken care of. These apartments were built in the 1940s, and they do have a certain amount of charm. In the right hands, they could be turned into something nice, but the current ownership and management is deplorable. The windows can not even be opened, which is a major safety hazard. Winter electric bills are outrageously high for such small units because there is NO insulation and cold air pours in through the windows. The mini blinds they install don’t even fit the windows, and they are so cheap and flimsy... that they break at the slightest touch, and then they expect tenants to pay for replacements. Appeal is the wood floors. Everything else is below standard. Electrical and plumbing must be original - nothing like the fresh smell of sulphur everyday. Have to use breaker box to turn things on. Maintenance and getting things fixed is a joke. Manager Jill has no clue other than sits at the desk all day. These are not livable - needs updating and brought up to codes. Would not recommend at all.

this is one of the scariest places I've ever lived...
