West Lofts Apartments

So many maintenance issues that have been reported multiple times each. The dog runs are also gross and they accidentally said we were late on rent two separate times, threatening to evict us for no reason. Leaving as soon as possible.

The units are unique, high ceilings, and spacious, but they are poorly soundproofed, cheaply done, and the HVAC systems, washer dryer, and dishwasher all leave much to be desired.

The property is managed poorly so no one really knows what the “rules” are until they’ve broken one. The front steps of the building smell like dog pee and there’s been months of threats of enforcing dog owners to clean up after their pets without any actual improvement.

Either you won’t receive an alert for your... package deliveries or you’ll get a notice of 48 deliveries months after they’ve all been picked. But at least there’s someone there to sign for them. The apartments are really unusual with high ceilings and original details, nothing cookie cutter about them. Mine is very spacious and bright. The management is very responsive and the staff is friendly and will go out of their way for you. The hallways are really big and have windows so it feels very airy and open.

This building was my home for two years while I went to grad school. I loved my loft, I had a beautiful view of the city and plenty of room for my pup and I! The location was great for getting to/from Penn. There is a wonderful community of people at West Lofts. Particularly the staff, who are so kind and accommodating.. I miss them already!! The leasing agent did such a good job securing the apartment for me and was so friendly to work with; and everyone from management to security to... maintenance was just as friendly and so helpful. Also of note, the dog-owning-neighbors hang out in the dog park area and have become some of my best friends! It was so nice to have that community-feeling since I knew no one when I came to the city. 4 stars given for location. The area is mostly safe as it's located on the edge of University City, but I recommend downloading something like the Citizen app so you can be alerted in real-time to safety reports in the general West Philadelphia area. The other reviews are very telling. Some of the past residents where not used to being in a building that is new construction. There are some minor issues with sound that have been corrected and their are some people who might not be okay with it. But all in all the residents here are SUPER friendly and the management staff is superb. The property manager and leasing agent are always willing to help and/or work with you. Great place to live and I wish I could have stayed!
