Pick Your Poison

We were excited about moving into a brand new building and anticipated an easier time here. Unfortunately, we were sorely mistaken.

There's drug activity and shootings in this area. The bad crowds hang around the building and some are in this building.

If you're hoping for privacy and peace inside the building, don't get your hopes up too high. The walls, floors, and ceilings are paper thin. Even something as simple as moving a chair or furniture will create cacophony for yourself and...
neighbors. Footsteps, music, voices, cabinet doors closing, screaming children, etc can all be heard from your neighbors' units. It's especially maddening if your neighbor is an inconsiderate one.
Good luck with trying to find some resolution in the event of a bad neighbor because the management will do next to nothing to relieve your problems.

This building doesn't seem too sturdy. The traffic on Fifth Avenue even rocks the building!

It's supposed to be handicap-accessible. However, the elevator breaks down very often and there are no ramps for the wheelchair-bound, cane, and walker users to use when that happens.
How are they supposed to evacuate in the event of a fire? You're not supposed to use elevators during building fires!

The pros of this building are:

~The interior and exterior design is beautiful, but the floors scratch very easily. Be very careful when moving furniture and chairs.

~There is parking on-site (a lot and a garage) located on Watson Street and there's excellent bus service for those without personal vehicles. The bus stops are along Fifth Avenue and on Forbes Avenue.

~It's a secure entrance with an intercom and a fob system. However, if the power goes out, so does the intercom and fob system! You'll be locked out.

Well, there you have my observations and grudges on the Uptown Lofts of Pittsburgh, PA 15219. We can't wait to leave.

I hope my review has helped you make an informed decision.

Thank you for reading.
