Misleading Management and Poor Living Conditions
Renting at Alexander Apartments was a frustrating experience. At lease signing, we were asked to provide multiple deposits, which we understood to be contrary to Quebec rental law. These were presented as non-negotiable conditions to secure the unit.
We paid rent in full and on time, followed all lease terms, and left the apartment in excellent condition. Yet, four weeks after moving out, our deposit has not been returned. We've contacted management multiple times by phone and email, but... responses have been inconsistent and unclear.
Living here came with additional challenges:
- In the second building, package delivery was chaotic. There’s no doorman, no centralized drop-off point, and no communication system. I often spent up to an hour locating parcels.
- Fire alarms went off several times a month, often without explanation, disrupting residents at all hours.
If you're considering renting here, especially as a newcomer or international tenant, be sure to understand your rights under Quebec law and ask detailed questions before signing.
