Avoid at all costs
At this point, I'd rather live in a cardboard box. At least that way I'd be getting exactly what I paid for. The property management company refuses to do any maintenance on the complex. Got broken plumbing? Good luck with that. No hot water? That sounds like a you problem. Have an infestation that spans several units? Think of them as surprise guests.
Seriously, I'm not sure what these people are actually doing. It sure doesn't involve doing any actual management of the property. The Dean has... gone through several property managers over the last few months, none of whom have ever bothered responding to the residents. In a just world, these people would go out of business, but since we're in the here and now avoid this property like the plague. You'll have a better experience literally anywhere else in Arlington.

Terrible
Single pane windows that don't close fully. Dark natural light blocking screens that were screwed onto the outside of windows with self tapping screws, so windows can't be washed from outside. Constant pest problems including roaches. Pool area hasn't been opened in over a year because they are too incompetent to get it to code. Very old and often not working AC units. Incredibly rude and untrustworthy management. Stay far away... The place is a lipsticked pig or a foolsgold-plated cow pie.

Dark, dirty, noisy, and poorly manged
Don't be fooled by the photos, this place is a poorly maintained dump. The pool is closed, there are dark dirty ripped screens on the windows, tons of bugs, screaming children, and the pool is closed (though you are still charged for it). There are weeds coming up through the astroturf, and cigarette butts and trash everywhere.

Terrible
I've lived at The Dean apartments for over 4 years.
Unfortunately, the building was sold to a flipper, and they artificially gussied up the place and raised everyone rents by 1/3. Most of the international students didn't renew their lease due to covid and the higher rents. The flippers brought in some seedy people to fill the many vacancies to inflate their rental numbers to sell to some sucker property investment group.
I am now paying almost double what we originally paid as rent, but... our apartment has seen no change. We now pay additional monthly fees including; waste removal $9 , pest control $6, their insurance $11 and shared water $60. They also charge a 2% fee to pay by checking account transfer. They do not accept paper checks.
Whereas the older family management lived onsite and dealt with issues easily and swiftly, the new management is not onsite, so things do not get serviced promptly. They allow trash to buildup in the general spaces and the facilities are constantly broken. The pool area has not been opened since the new management has taken over. It's been a year and still no access. They let the pool go fallow and it was pea green for months. They eventually cleaned the pool but either do not want to open the area or are too incompetent to get it to pass an inspection. The laundry room facilities are constantly broken. Only a single dryer works properly and other impatient residents have removed our clothes during a cycle and thrown them in the trashcan. I no longer use the onsite laundry.
One of my major concerns about the place is its electrical, which has not been updated since it was built. The wiring is old and brittle. We had an electrical outlet catch fire 3 years ago.
Roaches have been a constant problem. I've talked to the pest control people about it and they said until the management seals all the holes where the plumbing and electrical go through the drywall in every apartment, it will remain a problem. This permeability is the same for sound and smoke.
None of our windows close properly and have large cracks between window and frame.
I have stayed here because I work at the University and can walk to work. They say their rental prices are "market-rate", and that might be true if the Dean's facilities were in the same class as the A-rated rental facilities in the market that the Dean's management is trying to compare the Dean to. But this is, at best, a C-rated apartment complex!

Beautiful apartment ..so close to my campus
It is a beautiful, quiet apartment. They have renovated it well. And the best part is that it is just walking distance to my campus. I am so glad I found this place
