Poorly maintained, loud
The HVAC is under spec so it's cold in the winter and hot in the summer. Loud parties make studying here nearly impossible.

The best decision I’ve ever made!
If you are looking for an always-quiet, always-spotless, never-broken house this is NOT it. There are dedicated cleaners and fixers to help, but you will definitely run into an issue here or there with this!
What makes pearl street worth it is the organized communal living, lifetime friendships, and the POOL! The parties can get big, but they’re fun and you always feel supported by your housemates. Every day lunch and dinner is cooked for you by your housemates, and then your other housemates... clean it up!
You get access to an amazing pool, and amazing community, and an amazing price. Highly recommend!!

Best Home I Ever Had
Pearl Street is a housing co-op, so not your typical housing situation and therefore needs a bit of an explanation. You're expected to be a steward of the house, so you'll be responsible for 4 hours of labor each week. This helps keep costs low and helps build a community in the house instead of just being a place you live. Cooking or cleaning are the main types of labor in the house.
There are also two meetings each week where the house decides on rules, parties, and how to spend the budgets,... amongst other things.
Pearl Street has occupancy for 122 members (pre-COVID), an industrial kitchen, a pool, courtyard, various games (pool table, foosball), a TV room, computer room, and plenty more.
Now on to living at Pearl. You instantly have people to explore Austin with - whether it's going out to eat, hitting up Barton Springs,Butler Park Pitch and Putt, or checking out 6th Street.
Going to shows, camping trips, and festivals, are just a few activities that get planned by members.
I lived in a West Campus apartment before moving into Pearl and it was nice, some good neighbors, made some friends. But nothing like Pearl. The co-op family is unlike anything else. I've made lifelong friends from there and some co-opers have even met their spouses.
Pearl Street is a unique experience in Austin.
Moving into Pearl still remains one of the best decisions of my life.
Stop by for a tour and check out a house meeting.
