Good apartment, terrible staff

If you never have to work with the office staff, you may be ok staying here as the apartments themselves are just fine. However if you do need the office staff for anything, I must apologize in advance. First, I don't have a local phone number, so they cant sync my phone number to their gate dial pad. Well when family, guests, friends come over, the answer the staff gave me for them was "we cant provide a gate code for you, its for vendors. They must walk to the back to get to your apt"... Considering I live 500 yards in the back of the complex, better hope its not cold and raining or your family will be walking in the rain because tenants aren't allowed to know the code to their own apartments. Secondly, they provided a "friendly" notice to provide 60 days notice to terminate at the end of lease. They provided the notice less than 24 hours before we had to advise of decision to terminate. Then when it was turned in w/58 days notice, not 60, they said they would charge us for 2 days of rent. What company receives a notice 58 days in advance, after providing less than 24 hours notice AND STILL wants to charge you a fee. Good riddance, thanks for reassuring our decision NOT to renew with this complex

Affordability at a Cost

If you're looking to pay rock bottom rent in North Dallas, then look no further. Summit has great rates and even worked out a short term lease for me without increasing the monthly charges. Don't expect to have 1500 a month fixtures and amenities though. The cabinets tend to be a bit rickety and the appliances are a little banged up. The pool is dated, but is sufficient for laying out in the sun, etc. The fitness center is nice, but is small and under equipped. You must use the on site laundry... facility, rather than an in-house hookups (costs me about $35 a month doing around two loads a week). I can't speak much on the management as I have not needed to deal with them very regularly, but they have been courteous and genuinely helpful when I have visited the office. I had a bit of a creepy bug issue when I first moved in, but it was resolved after a few weeks of pest control treatments. The tenants here are largely diverse with a good mix of families and singles. Some can be a bit discourteous (especially in their cars in the parking lot), but I have largely felt safe living here. All and all, I enjoy living here because I love bargains, and this complex is one. If you're willing to put up with a few minor conveniences, then you can save a good amount of money living here. If little things have a tendency bug you (pun intended), then you might end up being one of those ranting one star reviewers on the internet, so I'd advise spending a little more and looking elsewhere. Even if you aren't, I recommend checking out the other properties adjacent to this one. They seem similar in rate and might offer something different. I simply went with The Summit at Midtown because of the aforementioned short term lease arrangement. Happy apartment hunting!

The Summit at Midtown

This complex has been nothing but amazing. Close enough to get the big city feel, but far enough to get a suburban feel. With a fully suited fitness center and a nearby walking path, getting a good exercise in couldn't be easier. The buildings and landscaping are well taken care of, leaving an atmosphere of home and comfort.

Decent

The best part of this complex is the proximity to things in Dallas. The actual complex itself looks updated on the outside but the units and appliances are very outdated. Sometimes there is no hot water/ there are leaks in random places(put in maintenance requests, they are supposedly fixed but next storm your get puddles again). Also, if your neighbors cook something, your apartment might smell like whatever they cooked. If you really just care about proximity to downtown, major highways then... this is a good fit. Mix of people at complex from families to professionals.
