Unclear, Unfair Post-Move-Out Charges
After moving out of Mirasol Eldorado, I was surprised to be charged a total of $481.90 for a bathtub reglaze ($250) and water/sewer ($231.90). The invoice they sent did not include a detailed breakdown of the charges, and although it is dated 5/20, we never received anything in the forwarding mail, email, phone call, or text. In fact, we only received the invoice after the collection company reached out. When I called management to clarify, they told me that “most people pay $300, you should be... thankful it’s only $250” — even though the bathtub wear clearly falls under normal wear and tear.
Before moving out, we took extensive pictures and videos of the apartment showing its condition. Despite this, the charges were sent to a debt collector and eventually reported on my credit report while I was actively disputing the debt. Communication from management about these charges was poor, and the process felt arbitrary and unfair.
I strongly advise future tenants to document everything, keep copies of emails and letters, and be cautious when moving out. Charges like these may appear unexpectedly, and the management may not provide proper notice or justification.
