Carlyn Hill Apartments

We have been living here for a couple years now and have always paid on time and been very low maintenance tenants. We have successfully avoided the property manager as much as we could because she is always justifying problems and blaming them on us, instead of just fixing them. Our car, with our pass displayed, has been towed from our own spot because of ridiculous parking rules. We have had tons of mice in the last few months and have been told that we need to find the holes they’re coming… thru so they know where to patch up. And the last straw was that we found bed bugs coming thru the cracks in the wall in our daughters room, and all she responded with was that they could come from anywhere?! These apartments are old, run down and full of pests. My roommate and I were joined by crickets, centipedes and mice that worked their way in through our sliding glass door, gaps between cabinets, and poorly sealed windows. Once a month an exterminator comes to bait all units for roaches, so even if you're clean, you might end up with roaches from other units in their attempts to exterminate. The walls and floors are paper thin, so you'll hear everything that happens in your neighbors homes. … There are a lot of young families in the complex, and kids can be heard stomping and screaming at all hours of the day. If you come to tour an apartment, insist on entering through the front of the building, many of the atriums smell strongly of cat urine, including the one which connects to the rental office. Any time we placed in a call for maintenance, we were blamed for the problem regardless of what the real cause of the issue was. We placed a call for the dishwasher 1 week into our lease, and management threatened to charge us for issues that were clearly remaining from the previous tenant. Despite multiple calls, the dishwasher was never fully functional. Parking on the street is open to anyone, but usually full of work vehicles and local taco trucks. Getting visitor parking passes is nearly impossible, you and your guest must go to the office before 5 PM. Management claims that passes can be obtained after hours from a woman who lives next to the rental office, but she typically doesn't answer the door or phone. There's a reason why these apartments are so cheap compared to anything else in the area. Management is extremely unprofessional and living conditions are poor. Don't waste your time and money here.
