The Retreat Apartments

The amenities are great but the apartments themselves aren't it. The leasing office will walk you through a never lived in apartment and refused to show us an actual apartment until we paid the deposit. We moved in and had a few issues including mold and what looked like a bathtub that hadn't been washed. Sad because they paint this place to be "luxury living" but it isn't really. Our washer and dryer which you have to rent for an additional $40/month weren't drying our clothes so we... investigated and behind our dryer were mounds of lint. The duct that carries the lint out of the apartment was plum full so we contacted them since it's a fire hazard. They came out and knocked a little out and told us a company was going to come in the next few days to professionally clean all of the vents but nothing ever came of it. The lint traps on the outside of the apartments are all basically full. There are great things and people in the apartments but for the price you pay to live here, it just isn't it. Another tidbit is that I DO NOT recommend living here if you work from home. We have lived here for a mere 6 months and the amount of times the power has shut off and taken longer than 6 hours to come back on is outrageous. Read More

Do not move here. I regret it. All of the fake 5 star reviews lured me in to live here. These buildings were poorly built and if you get stuck with lousy neighbors, management will not make things right and you will be forced to suck it up until the end of your lease. It is very noisy. You can hear your neighbor's TV & them playing video games, conversations, baby crying, dog barking, constant creaking & loud noises from neighbors above you, I-81 traffic, police sirens, etc.. The community is... non-smoking, yet there are cigarette butts littered across the property. Also, residents with dogs are expected to pick up their dog's poop. They do not. The parking lot and other areas of the property are littered with trash. Speaking of trash, the trash situation is disgusting. There is a central dumpster near the lease office where everyone drops off their trash. There is so much trash that it has to be left in piles on the ground. The smell is putrid. A couple months ago the office made it mandatory that in addition to paying for the dumpster, everyone must pay for a trash pick up service. I have only seen one person obtain a trash can from the office and use this service. Residents were not consulted whether they would or wouldn't like this service before it was made mandatory. Another problem that comes to mind is that the office has poor communication skills. If the wifi (you are forced to sign up for their bad wifi btw - I think it is Cox) or power goes out, their office phones aren't working, or if they are performing a project or maintenance, they will not inform you in a timely manner. The only pros I can think of for living here are that it's safe and the apartments have a modern design. That's it. Office staff except for Levi are extremely rude and unprofessional. Every time you go to the office it seems like they are very annoyed to see you and they don't want to help. My wife called the office with serious concern and the response from the manager was "we have other issues that we are dealing and there nothing much we can do". As a result of that my sister lost her job. Apartment is very nice I hope they would hire some nice office staff who are willing to help their tenant. The complex and apartments are beautiful, but the best part is the office staff. They are all incredible and always happy to help in any way they can! Moving here was the best decision I ever made! So happy and I can’t say enough good things about The Retreat!
