Beautiful light and a large floor plan at a discount

I lived here for a year and really enjoyed my unit. I had a corner apartment with fantastic windows and a built in vanity closet. The building is old and quirky, with a very secure package delivery system. Cat friendly, and a very understanding manager!

Loved my place here!

Been meaning to write a review since I moved out of my place in Sept but haven't gotten to it :) I'm so homesick and miss my apartment in this building!
I loved this building. The hardwood floors, 1920s charm and huge surrounding windows gave me such a comfy apartment for the year I was there.
I loved the corner store where I could grab a bottle of wine, the awesome neighbors I had on my floor and being in walking distance to everything on Cap Hill.
Kendra was a great landlord and made my move...
in and move out super easy. If I could take the Joey Ray with me to my next city - I would have!

DO NOT RENT HERE

If you are reading these reviews to decide if you'd like to live here--RUN WHILE YOU STILL CAN. Seriously.

I have never worked with a more unprofessional and frustrating company. Without going into details that you don't have time for, the apartment manager, Kendra, will say everything you want to hear in order to get you to sign a lease, just for you to find out later that she blatantly lied. If you do happen to have any problems and need to get in contact with her manager Lauren, good luck!!...
I called nearly every day for a few weeks and not once actually got to speak to her and she never responded to any of my voicemails or messages left with her secretary. We spent over a month trying to deal with a problem that would have never happened had Kendra not lied to us from the start.

Management fails to notify residents of important problems in the building (we woke up one day to no running water with no notice from anyone as to why this was happening). Management also fails to follow through. Upon moving in we noticed that half the outlets in the unit didn't work. Kendra assured us she would have it fixed. Six months later and we still couldn't use those outlets when we moved out. Kendra also said she would give us the new keys to our new "secure" garage door--that never happened either.

Even after giving ample notice, we were continually charged for a parking spot we were not using and even though we were promised our security deposit refund would arrive within 14 days of the lease ending, they didn't even send it out of their office until after that date.

The current state of the building is another thing to worry about. The hallways near the doors reek of urine and the building is overall just not in good shape.

Moral of this essay is rent somewhere else. Although they offer a slightly lower rent than surrounding buildings, you will end up paying for it in far more frustrating ways.
